These instrument carts have a top shelf that is set at a lower height than on standard instrument carts, which reduces how far bulky or heavy items must be lifted when loading them onto the carts. The carts' top shelf has a flush surface that allows items to slide onto or off of it for loading and unloading. The carts' bottom shelves have a short lip that stops items from falling off them. Heavy items don't have to be lifted very far to clear the shelves' short lip.

These metal-shelf utility carts have shock-absorbing casters and cushioned shelf matting that absorb shock and vibration while the cart is rolling, which helps protect fragile items on the cart from damage. The matting also has a nonslip surface that stops items from sliding on the shelves and colliding with each other.
